Protected Geographical Indication

The regions of Achaia and Ilia include PGIs, which are typically broken down by size into district, and area wines. PDO is a stricter category with tighter controls on winemaking and grape varieties and typically denotes a smaller geographic area than a PGI. Under the PGI designation, a broader sprectrum of grape varieties and styles can be used and this leaves room for experimentation and a broader array of styles to be produced. The tables below indicate the styles and grape varieties produced within each district or area PGI in the regions of Achaia and Ilia.
